A cove is a small type of bay or coastal inlet. They usually have narrow, restricted entrances, are often circular           or oval, and are often inside a larger bay. Small, narrow, sheltered bays, inlets, creeks, or recesses in a coast    are often considered coves. Colloquially, the term can be used to describe a sheltered bay.

Geomorphology describes coves as precipitously walled and rounded cirque-like openings as in a valley extending into or down a mountainside, or in a hollow or nook         of a cliff or steep mountainside. Their are many coves     in the Caribbean

Caribbean coves, like bays, are formed by differential erosion. Differential erosion is when softer rocks are worn away faster than the harder rocks surrounding them. These rocks further erode to form a circular bay with a narrow entrance called a cove.

Secret Caribbean coves:

Bonaire

A small crescent-shaped paradise only 21 miles long – if you love nature, you’ll be in heaven here. The island is home to over 300 species of marine life and flocks of bright pink flamingos still wander across salt plains. The island features giant salt lakes and some say the island has the best snorkelling and diving in the Caribbean because Bonaire – and its surrounding coral – has been so undisturbed by tourism.

Aruba

Aruba’s capital of Oranjestad dazzles visitors with bright orange architecture, reflecting the island’s tie with the Netherlands. You’ll even find a windmill on the island. You can pick up some duty-free shopping in the capital or explore the rest of the island – find flamingos in the National Park, play the championship golf course and discover incredible caves. Aruba also has a desert landscape, so don’t miss sliding down the sand dunes with the locals at Boca Prins.

Rawlins Plantation

Set on Mount Pleasant with the cool trade wind breeze rustling the palms over looking the scenic north coast of St. Kitts and the Caribbean sea, Rawlins Plantation Inn has for 36 years been the chosen retreat for the fortunate few, for quality time spent with plantation cocktails, ambrosial food and probably the best wine list on the island.

Rawlins 12 guestrooms are in cottages scattered throughout the plantation grounds. Each cottage has its own private veranda catching cool breezes and offering spectacular views of Caribbean coves.

Daily life at Rawlins is easy and carefree. Activities include a grass tennis court, a spring fed swimming pool, croquet on the lawn and trips to the rainforest. For those who simply wish to relax there is our library of favourite books, tea by the pool or simply sitting on the veranda with a rum punch absorbing the sweet serenity of the old Caribbean.

More strenuous island activities are scuba diving, sailing, golf, cricket and open air carnivals and concerts. In total an island experience that balances conviviality with a Caribbean magic that is raw exuberant and full of vitality.

CARIBBEAN NEWS - UPDATE -
Caribbean airlines - Caribbean Flights:

Caribbean Airlines has issued a stark signal of intent, ordering nine ATR 72-600 regional turboprops at a total value of US$200 million.

The news comes as the flag-carrier of Trinidad & Tobago seeks to consolidate its position in the Caribbean following the acquisition of Air Jamaica.
“In the last months we have experienced a strong commercial success in the Americas, which has represented almost 50 per cent of our order intakes in 2010,” said Filippo Bagnato, chief executive officer of ATR.
“The growing economies of the region are strongly developing their regional connectivity.

“Our ATR aircraft are optimally positioned to answer to their needs by providing unrivalled performances on routes under 400 nautical miles, both in terms of operating costs and environmental impact.

“Also, the ATR aircraft provide the right answer to the increasing demands in terms of passenger comfort level.” The deal follows a Memorandum of Understanding announced in September 2010 and will make the airline a new operator of ATR regional aircraft.

Deliveries of ATR 72-600s to Caribbean Airlines will start in October 2011. According to Franco-Italian group ATR the aircraft will be configured with 68 seats.  Caribbean Airlines will use its new
ATR 72-600s to replace its current fleet of five Bombardier Dash 8-300 turboprops on domestic routes, and add new service frequencies linking Trinidad and Tobago and surrounding destinations. In addition, some of the new ATRs will be operated on the network of Air Jamaica, recently acquired by Caribbean Airlines.

Last year the airline was recognised by the World Travel Awards as the Caribbean’s Leading Airline.

No view of a Caribbean cove would not be complete ...
without a Jacuzzi®
The HISTORY OF JACUZZI ® (Hot tubs)
The original hydrotherapy jet was invented
by the Jacuzzi brothers in 1956.
Around the turn of the century, seven Jacuzzi brothers emigrated to California from Italy. In 1956, an idea was born. Why not treat a family member’s arthritis with a hydrotherapy pump. The Jacuzzi brothers invented a pump and a small niche business was born. The J-300, a portable pump, was sold to hospitals and schools.
This innovative spirit was captured by Roy Jacuzzi, a third generation family member who had begun learning the business as a teenager. Sensing the American consumers interest in health, fitness and leisure activities, Roy invented and marketed the first self-contained, fully integrated whirlpool bath in 1968. By incorporating body jets into the sides of the tub, it became the bath that almost single-handedly created an industry. As larger units were designed to accommodate more people, Jacuzzi incorporated heating and filtration systems to keep the water warm and clean, thus creating the first hot tub in 1970. Hot tubs, unlike the whirlpool baths, could be used outside with this heating system. In 1979, the family sold the business to New York based Kidde Inc. All the family members left the business, except for Roy, who stayed on to run the Jacuzzi operations. In 1990, Roy Jacuzzi was placed in the National Kitchen and Bath Hall of Fame in the USA, recognising him for his many contributions in the innovation of Hydrotherapy for home use. In 2001, the Jacuzzi bathroom brand was expanded in the UK to include sanitaryware, premium shower enclosures, furniture, brassware and accessories to offer a full contemporary bathroom collection. Perfect for your Caribbean cove villa holiday!

Jacuzzi has become the world's most recognised and largest selling brand of jetted whirlpool baths, hot tubs and spas. In addition to the first whirlpool bath patent, Jacuzzi has 250 worldwide patents for advancements in pump systems, jet technology and product design. This ongoing commitment to innovative product development ensures its leadership position in the industry...
and sets the standards the world over.
